South Korean casinos are subject to new suspensions, local media reports as COVID-19 cases rise again.
South Korean casinos will close again on Tuesday
Casinos on Seoul metropolitan area in South Korea, including Incheonthey will have to close the operations at 12 in Tuesday November 24to help combat recent growth the number of covid-19 infections. Local stores confirmed the news, adding that the measures have an impact on four casinos that focus on delivering gaming solutions to overseas visitors. Casinos have experienced ups and downs amid the recent restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All of them Gangnam Coex Seoul, Gangbuk Millenium Seoul Hilton, Paradise Casino Walkerhill Seoul and Paradise City Casino Incheon will have to temporarily suspend their activities. Covid-19 cases in Greater Seoul have increased in the period since 15 November to November 21 to 175.1, which is twice as much as the week before.
On a scale country South Korea reports 300 cases, and Central Headquarters for Prevention of Natural Disasters and Security made recommendations to contain the spread of the infection, including suspending key businesses that are seen as transmitters of the disease.
Casinos face another dilemma
Interestingly, casinos in Las vegas, Atlantic City and Macau are resuming operations, albeit with reduced efficiency, while, for example, gambling establishments in the United Kingdom have started to stall.
Each casino has taken a number of steps to guarantee the safety of visitors and staff. There still appears to be no specific instructions given to casinos from their managing directors, but the properties will most likely follow any recommendations made by the government, as they have so far.
Walkerhill confirmed for GGRAsia, a respected regional store focused on the gaming sector, that it will stop serving drinks and hangs points gastronomy from 21:00 on Monday local time. It is all part of it Phase 2 restrictions recommended by the South Korean authorities.
In the meantime GKL and Paradise have suspended services to local residents on their gaming floors, but the influx of players is declining as the virus returns.
