Global Payments and IGT sign a five-year agreement for cashless payments

Global Payments and IGT deepen their cooperation on cashless payment options with another five-year partnership.

Casino players can enjoy cashless options with IGT and global payments

International Game Technology (IGT) not only made its debut with a cashless payment solution at the height of the pandemic. The company is now looking for further opportunities to strengthen the technology position in the gambling industry.

Thanks to the new long-term partnership with Global Payments, IGT hopes to achieve just that. IGTPay is a casino-level solution that enables consumers to make smooth digital payments without having to touch or handle money themselves. In addition, this method adds transparency and comfort to the experience.

With the advent of Covid-19, which presents many new challenges in the US and beyond, IGT has rushed to approve a technology that can offset at least some of the problems that a highly contagious infection has forced on the industry.

Aside from disinfection protocols, IGT gives players quick and easy access to bank funds. This includes mobile, online and desktop devices. After registering, a player can transfer funds from their bank accounts to digital wallets and vice versa in a one-step process.

Commenting on the technology, IGT vice president of Video Lottery Terminal, System and Payment Products, Ryan Reddy, explained that simplicity is essential to accepting a customer. The advantages of technology alone are usually not enough to turn cash users into cashless players, Reddy explained.

Instead, IGT has focused on creating technology that is convenient and simple to use as it gives more incentive to adopt it. Global Payments is also not a random partner. IGT first partnered with the company in 2016.

IGT and global payments go back many years

At the time, both companies were working on IGT iLottery products, but now that relationship has evolved. IGT and Global Payments began working with IGTPay in 2018 to cover PlayLottery products. Since then, this partnership has changed to include all digital services offered by IGT.

Global Payments' CEO, Gaming Solutions, Christopher Justice, said that already around 3.5 million people choose their preferred VIP Global Payments solution to make various payments and enjoy responsible gaming. The company also strives to combine IGT's cashless payment options with other financing methods. That is, payment options other than bank accounts.

IGT's cashless wallet has already received regulatory approval in Nevada. Numerous cashless initiatives have been introduced in Las Vegas and beyond. Boyd, Aristocrat and Sightline have teamed up to get more contactless payment options earlier this year. Meanwhile, in Las Vegas, Golden Entertainment agreed to make the Marker Trax Quick Play system available.
